Sasjo Angelov is a former gang leader who today leads the world’s biggest Turkish-speaking assembly. One that is not located in Turkey but Pazardzjik in Bulgaria. There is about 33’000 turk-bulgarian inhabitants in the town. The mother assembly has about 600 members. They have also started approximately sixty daughter assemblies in the villages around.
He will arrive to Sweden for a meeting-journey between 29:th of February and 9:th of March visiting places like Alfta, Rinkeby, Falun, Dala-Järna, Bollnäs, Tystberga, Flen, Horred and Jönköping. (check the program)
Most of the turk-bulgarians are poor and Sasjo Angelov says that it’s hard to see all those who lift their hands to God and at the same time has a very hard time finding food for the day.
He suffers when he sees how they live, how they hunger, and how other pastors have to leave their churches to find a job elsewhere. But he thanks God at the same time for the revival. They have church service every day and see God do amazing things all the time.
The turk-bulgarians are muslims and Sasjo has met real resistance from fundamentalists. In July 2005 he and his son were attacked by 30 people with iron pipes and other weapons when they were on their way home from a meeting. He got beaten bloody, but survived. Despite that the Muslims had warned him to preach the word of God in town; he stood at the pulpit the day after the attack.
Sasjo has never been afraid, but many feared Sasjo and his gang the years before he became Christian. He became Christian in 1982 when a Christian woman entered his house and prayed for his lung cancer sick mother. Sasjo pealed of laughter at her, but four days later his mother woke up healthy when she was expected to be dead in a couple of days. Then he realised that Jesus was greater than Muhammad.
In daytime he worked at his fathers factory, but at evenings and nights he was busy telling about his newfound faith in Jesus. The assembly that today affects a whole town and its surroundings started to grow.
